I am fortunate to be part of a wonderful group of ladies that I call the Knitting Posse. When one of our posse, Mary, told us she and her husband were adopting a little boy we were all very excited for them.
Once more I started looking for the perfect pattern to knit a gift. This time instead of the usual blanket, I decided on a stuffed animal. One of my favorite knitter/bloggers, Gregory Patrick, makes and sells teddy bears and patterns but it was his tiger pattern that caught my eye.
The pattern knitted up quickly and Hobbes the tiger looked adorable, don’t you think?
I couldn’t wait to give it to them. But adoption takes time, and a new family needs time to adjust so it was a few months before Mary could bring him to meet the Knitting Posse.
Can you imagine a roomful of knitting aunties and one toddler? We all wanted to love him up and spoil him to pieces, but he was more interested in turning the fan off and on.
Mary and her family enjoyed all the gifts. But when I saw Mary, her husband and their son together, and all the love they so obviously have for each other, I knew that simply being a family is the gift they treasured the most.
